The sixth edition of World Stage Design 2025 — held once every four years — took place in Sharjah, UAE. Produced by the Neo-Classical Chamber Ensemble and designed by Chao Chien-Ming Architects,“Pursuing the Light Ahead – Into PAUL CHIANG” was shortlisted for the Stage Design category.
Visiting the WSD exhibition at the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy in the UAE has been an inspiring experience. In addition to seeing remarkable theater design works from around the world, I also had the opportunity to connect with outstanding theater designers from Taiwan and across the globe, exchanging creative ideas and inspirations — an experience full of valuable insights and inspiration.
During these exchanges, Cláudia Belchior, President of the European Theatre Convention (ETC), was particularly impressed by the works and creative energy of Taiwanese theater designers, offering high praise for their contributions.
Lisa Ball-Lechgar, Director of Cultural Affairs and Business Development at the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation, visited the exhibition panel of “Pursuing the Light Ahead – Into PAUL CHIANG.” She expressed strong interest and high appreciation for how the Neo-Classical Chamber Ensemble develops interdisciplinary music-theatre works with music at their core, as well as for the innovative integration of technology and diverse musical materials demonstrated in this shortlisted piece.
A heartfelt thank you to artist Paul Chiang for his encouragement and inspiration, to the entire production team of “Pursuing the Light Ahead – Into PAUL CHIANG.” and to everyone who has supported and accompanied us along the way. We will stay true to our original intention and continue to move forward.
